Why I would stir this into the story
Sazerac Rye is the bottle I would reach for when rye needs romance as well as spice. It carries the New Orleans cocktail story with it, but the liquid is not just branding: clove, vanilla, anise, pepper, toffee, fig, mint, cinnamon, and citrus all sit in a softer, more graceful register than the punchier bottled-in-bond ryes.
That makes it useful for a different role than Rittenhouse. Rittenhouse is the workhorse when a Manhattan needs proof. Sazerac is the bottle I would put on the table when the drinker cares about atmosphere, classic cocktails, and a rye that can be sipped without feeling austere.
I would use it for International Whiskey Day, Thanksgiving cocktails, or a groomsmen bottle with a better story than the usual safe blend. The only caution is price: if it drifts too high, its gentle charm has to compete with stronger, deeper ryes.
A graceful rye with New Orleans history, sweet spice, and enough minty snap for classic cocktails.
